7 Reasons to Love Unleash 7
We’re beyond excited to announce the official release of Unleash 7. So much has evolved since our last major version, and we’ve been hard at work packing each release with enhancements designed to help you ship software faster and smarter.
But this release is about more than just features—it’s about enabling a smarter approach to software delivery. With version 7, we’ve solidified the tools you rely on most to help you unlock the power of FeatureOps: gradual rollouts, instant rollbacks, advanced targeting, and full-stack experimentation, all backed by enterprise-grade security and scaling. With these robust core capabilities, we’re making it even easier for teams to gain real-time control over how features are planned, released, measured, and cleaned up at scale.
Let’s dive into the most impactful features and improvements you’ll find in the Unleash 7 experience! Want to watch instead of read? Register here for our Unleash 7 webinar.
1. Intuitive tools for managing feature flag lifecycle
As your use of feature flags scales, managing them and addressing technical debt can become a real challenge.
Since Unleash 6, we’ve introduced several key features to give you data and insights at each stage of a feature flag’s lifecycle to help you optimize your development workflows and stay on top of technical debt:
- Actionable insights: Understand your software development process better. We now measure time spent in each lifecycle phase, to help you identify bottlenecks and opportunities to optimize your development workflow.
- Automation and insights for managing technical debt: Proactively identify and clean up stale or unused flags in your code with insights, tools, and automation from Unleash.
- Flags overview: A centralized place to monitor the status and lifecycle of all your feature flags and releases, so you can stay on top of coordinating flags across multiple teams without spreadsheets or manual work.
2. Personalized UI for maximum productivity
We believe your tools should adapt to you, not the other way around. Unleash 7 brings a more focused, personalized UI packed with productivity improvements.
- Personal dashboard: Optimize your workflow with quick access to the resources and data you need. Gain insights into each project’s health and stay updated on the latest events.
- Command menu: Our command menu makes UI navigation a breeze. Search across feature flags, projects, and pages to supercharge your workflow.
- A dedicated Admin Settings area: All your instance management tools—user roles, service accounts, SSO, and network data—are now organized in one central place for easy access.
- User roles and permissions overview: Review at a glance what each user can do in your instance and which roles grant those permissions.
3. Scale globally with Unleash Enterprise Edge
Earlier this year, we launched Unleash Enterprise Edge, our fully managed Edge solution built for scalability and resilience.
- Scalability and reliability: Edge acts as a lightweight read replica, allowing you to support thousands of connected SDKs without impacting your main Unleash instance.
- Global presence, low latency: Available in 11 global data centers across North America, Europe, and Asia, ensuring optimal performance wherever your users are.
- Enhanced observability: A dedicated dashboard provides detailed metrics for all your Edge instances, including CPU/memory usage, and latency.
- High-speed streaming protocol: Any configuration updates are broadcast to all Edge nodes within milliseconds.

4. Effortless onboarding
Setting up a new Unleash project and connecting an SDK now takes seconds (seriously, check out our webinar!). The new interactive experience guides you through:
- Creating your first feature flag
- Choosing an SDK
- Writing those first lines of code
- Retrieving the flag with the SDK
5. Seamless debugging with Event Timeline
Need to quickly see what changes were made to an environment, especially when troubleshooting?
The new Event Timeline feature brings a unified view of key events and signals from the past 48 hours across all your projects. This is a game-changer for SRE teams and anyone needing a quick overview of recent changes to identify and debug issues, cutting through the noise of traditional event logs.
Building on this, search capabilities in the Event Log have also been enhanced, allowing you to filter by user, date range, event types, feature flags, and more.
6. Automated user provisioning with SCIM
To simplify user management, Unleash now supports SCIM. This allows you to automatically manage users via identity providers like Okta or Microsoft Entra ID.
Simply create, delete, and modify user accounts in your Identity Management Platform, and these changes will be reflected in Unleash without manual intervention, saving time and improving security.
7. Other small (but mighty!) features
- Improved collaboration: The feature flag overview now shows who made the most recent change, a list of recent collaborators, and a link to the associated event. Quickly find who to ask or thank!
- Colors on tags: Add a splash of visual organization to your feature flag tags.
- Links on feature flags: Add external links to feature flags to connect to related resources (for example, the docs or issue/task description). Use templates to auto-populate useful links, for example, to find all usages of the feature flag in your repository.
- Configure change requests at the environment level: Ensure consistency across your projects by defining specific approval steps for critical environments like production.
Bonus beta spotlight: Release Management
An exciting new feature we’ve been working on is Release Templates.
Release templates provide a structured way to guide each feature from rollout to completion, using standardized milestones and custom success criteria. This new capability lets you define a comprehensive release plan for each feature, attaching templates directly to flags to ensure every rollout follows a predefined path.
Combined with existing workflow integrations, Release Templates bring greater autonomy and alignment to your teams, making complex releases predictable and significantly reducing risk. You can now sign up for the beta here.
Unleash 7 is a testament to our commitment to providing an enterprise-grade solution that’s also intuitive and easy to use. We’re confident these updates will help you build better software, faster, and with greater confidence.
