What’s new in Unleash 8.1

Improved projects overview

The projects page now tells you where to look first. Project cards surface anything that needs attention: pending change requests, remaining setup steps, flags that are ready to be cleaned up, and safeguards that have been triggered. A quick glance replaces a round of clicking into each project to check.

Streamlined flag lifecycle and archive views

Following a flag through its lifecycle is now one view instead of several. You can switch between lifecycle phases, archived flags included, without navigating to a different place for each phase.

Create impact metrics from the UI

You can now create an impact metric directly in the Admin UI. Previously, metrics could only be defined in code through an SDK. Once the metric exists, you can use it to drive a safeguard that guards a rollout.

Clone context fields

You can now clone a context field from the context field list, in both the global admin view and project settings. Cloning opens the create form pre-filled with the source field’s description, legal values, and stickiness, which makes it quick to fix a typo in a field name or spin up a similar field without retyping a long list of legal values.

New help menu

The top navigation has a new help menu that gathers the useful links in one place: the Learning Lab, what is new in Unleash, documentation, GitHub, feedback, and the Slack community. Several of these previously lived in the footer and are now reachable from anywhere in the Admin UI.

ServiceNow integration in beta

The new ServiceNow integration automatically tracks the state of your Unleash change requests in ServiceNow, so you get an audit trail of what was created, approved, and applied, in the system your organization already uses for change management.

New OpenFeature providers

We’ve released new OpenFeature providers, currently in beta, for Node.js, PHP, Python, Ruby, Rust, and Swift. They let you evaluate your feature flags through the vendor-neutral OpenFeature API while continuing to manage them in Unleash.

The Unleash Learning Lab is open

We just launched the Unleash Learning Lab: a set of hands-on courses on feature management, covering both open source and Unleash Enterprise capabilities.
